CHOBE is pleased to announce 2 webinars, both relating to degree apprenticeships. The focus will to be on quality assurance and funding issues. These webinars will be open to academic staff and colleagues from quality assurance teams. The first webinar, on 9th of June at 14.00, will focus on the relationship between HE providers and Ofsted.
Ofsted is now responsible for overseeing all apprenticeships, including those at degree levels 6 and 7 for the first time and the session will:
- Explore the role of Ofsted and the nature of their involvement with the quality assurance of degree apprenticeship provision.
- Discuss what HE providers will need to consider to meet the requirements of an Ofsted inspection (and developing the expertise needed).
- Articulate how to apply the Ofsted approach to delivering apprenticeships which should reflect their underlying requirements (and any adjustments needed).
This session will be delivered by Mike Speight from UCEM. Mike has worked for many years in the delivery of apprenticeships and adult skills. He has had senior management and leadership positions in operations, marketing, audit, risk and compliance and has a broad network of contacts across the provider network. Mike joined UCEM in October 2020 in a newly developed role with a specific remit to lead on UCEM’s response to the regulatory environment around apprenticeships. The first of two main strands of his role is maintaining compliance with the ESFA performance management and funding rules and providing assurance to the Board of Trustees, the executive team and relevant committees. The second strand relates to UCEM’s ongoing development within the areas subject to inspection by Ofsted
